2008 Heifer - BCC Niobrara

| This one is special! She has earned the nickname
"Flipper". When she was less than an
hour old, she stepped off the edge of the creek bank, almost as if
she thought she could walk on water. The rain had been heavy
and the creek was deep. She sank like a brick. Shelly
was nearby and immediately jumped in after her. After much
slipping in the mud, both of them made it to the opposite bank and
Shelly shoved the calf to safety before climbing out herself as
Flipper's mom, Fox Fire anxiously watched.
I think Fox Fire remembers. These longhorns are amazing. |
